Community Women’s Education Project (CWEP) is a community-based education agency that serves low-income families from across the city of Philadelphia, including many from Kensington where our facilities are located. We provide a continuum of adult education programs--from basic skills/literacy, GED preparation, computer education to on-site college classes--as well as support services and connections to the workplace. Our programs are based on the belief that education provides the tools to empower people to change their lives.

General Description: The Grant Writer, working in conjunction with the Executive Director and Development Coordinator, has the responsibility for researching, writing, and submitting well written, statistically supported, and priority directed grants.

General Description of Responsibilities:

  • Develop yearly fundraising goals with the Executive Director
  • Work with Executive Director and Development Coordinator to develop proposals for new programs and initiatives
  • Assist preparing/coordinating foundation, corporate and federal funding requests and reports;
  • Maintain funding time-line
  • Research funding sources and their fiscal year priorities
  • Coordinate with partnering agencies to assure proposal effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of three years of progressive grant writing or grants management experience
  • Previous experience in nonprofit field a MUST
  • Effectual verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, organize and manage diverse activities. Meet deadlines.
  • Experience in interviewing, researching, and compiling information from various sources.
  • Able to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and partnering organizations
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, such as additional writing tasks.
